Prof. Dr. Mustafa SOLMAZ

Born in Ankara in 1964, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Solmaz completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in his hometown. He began his medical education at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, one of Türkiye’s most prestigious medical schools, and graduated in 1989, earning his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree.

Following his graduation, Dr. Solmaz pursued a specialization in psychiatry at Bakırköy Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital, one of Türkiye’s oldest and most distinguished institutions in the field of mental health and psychiatry. He successfully completed his residency training in 1996 and became a Board-Certified Psychiatrist.

Throughout his academic career, Prof. Dr. Solmaz steadily advanced through the academic ranks, earning the title of Associate Professor in 2014 and Professor in 2021.

Academic and Administrative Career

Throughout his professional career, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Solmaz has built a distinguished profile in both clinical practice and academia. His key appointments and responsibilities include:

  • Faculty Member: Served as a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry at Hamidiye Faculty of Medicine, University of Health Sciences, where he contributed to the education and training of numerous medical students and psychiatry residents.

  • Clinical Educator: Worked as an educational supervisor at the Psychiatry Clinic of Bağcılar Training and Research Hospital under the Ministry of Health, overseeing the clinic’s educational, administrative, and clinical operations.

  • Forensic Psychiatry Experience: Drawing on his extensive expertise in forensic psychiatry, he served as the Chair of the 4th Specialized Board of the Council of Forensic Medicine between 2015 and 2020. During this period, he led expert evaluations in some of the most complex areas of forensic psychiatry, including criminal responsibility and legal competency assessments.

Current Position

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Solmaz continues to share his extensive clinical experience and academic expertise. He currently serves as the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Beykent University Faculty of Medicine, where he is actively involved in educating future physicians, conducting academic research, and providing psychiatric care to patients.
