Prof. Dr. Kültegin Ögel was born in Ankara in 1964. He completed his primary and secondary education at TED Ankara College and pursued his university education at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine. In 1992, he became a specialist in psychiatry at Bakırköy Mental Health and Neurological Diseases Hospital. He worked as a psychiatrist at Sağmalcılar Prison for two years, then joined the AMATEM Clinic at Bakırköy Mental Health and Neurological Diseases Hospital in 1995. In 2000, he took over the management of the ÇEMATEM Clinic, treating adolescent substance dependents.
He is the founder of the Yeniden Health and Education Association (Yeniden Sağlık ve Eğitim Derneği). He has received six awards for his work and has authored nine books on substance use and addiction, and two on depression.
He has taught at Boğaziçi University, Okan University, and Acıbadem University, where he also chaired the Psychiatry Department. He has led projects for organizations such as the European Union, WHO, and UNICEF, and has served as a consultant for various ministries. Currently, he is the Director of Moodist Psychiatry and Neurology Hospital and a faculty member at Istanbul Kent University. He is also the founder of the Addiction Academy.
